So I thought I would kick off my blog with my first post being solely around motivation, finding yours and the different types of motivation I have experienced. I find there are three types of motivation that I have experienced. The first would be outer visual motivation, which I will get into further detail about. The second would be loved ones verbal motivation and then the third and frankly my favourite would be; inner and self motivation.

So to dive into the first: Outer visual motivation (named by me). This is when we see photos and videos of people and we feel the need to look like them and to match their physical aesthetic. This is not a bad form of motivation at all, in fact it is what started me on my very own fitness journey. With that said though I find this can lead to negative side affects such as the demise of your own self esteem and a lack of positive body image which in turn leads to a lack of motivation. So this form of motivation can end up not being motivating at all. The important thing to remind yourself of is that the very people you are looking to for motivation took time and patience to get to where they are and it did not happen overnight for them and so it wont happen overnight for you, keep having a goal but always be kind a patient with your own progress.

My second motivation is the verbal motivation from loved ones. I do find this one to be extremely powerful but I would warn not to put everything on this, it is not the duty of your loved ones to keep you motivated but hell does it help a lot. When you are working so hard to better you health and body image and a friend or family member praises your commitment or your progress it brings such a gratification. As human beings we do thrive on praise and recognition and so this can be such a motivational driver to continue and carry on. I do say, don't expect it and don't rely on it, which leads me to the third motivation and my personal favourite.

My third 'type' of motivation is the most important; self motivation. This is what gets me up and into my active gear everyday ready and more than willing to exercise. This is when you focus on yourself and how you feel. When you are done with a physical activity or a workout and you can feel the endorphins, focus on the euphoric feeling and the energy coursing through you and the feeling of achievement and use this as a sole motivator, use that superhero feeling that you can achieve anything even if you're sweaty and rather exhausted. Another component to this motivation is the feeling of the next day, the day after. You feel the stiff muscles and you know that you achieved what you set out to the previous day and that you worked yourself and you know with that feeling that visual results will follow, the more you put in and the more you feel that you've worked your muscles. Don't take this feeling as pain, take it as an achievement getting you one step closer to where you want to be.

With this said, I must say that with my research done, that if your muscles actually are in pain 3 or more days after the exercise then you need to seek medical attention.

Always listen to your body.

Motivation is a hard topic for everyone and so I hope with this post you can find yours. Remember to be patient and kind with yourself, Rome wasn't built in a day.
