My 30 day abdominal challenge.

I am currently waiting to see if I can start my personal training course in September, but with COVID-19 everything is so uncertain at the moment. With the help of my life coach (a very important topic I will cover at a later stage) I decided to take things into my own hands and self study (girl power).

So, I got a bunch of textbooks ranging from muscle anatomy to exercise anatomy, personal training guides and sport massage textbooks. I stocked up on notebooks, pens and highlighters and I have been going for it! I study as much as I can without neglecting my business and my physical training routine.

This week, after a few months of training and a mid exercise idea, I ‘designed‘ my own online abdominal challenge. I decided to choose 30 days to enable me to ease everyone in and to ensure that the progression of the challenge wouldn’t strain anyone.

I created a group of friends and family in a WhatsApp group in order to deliver the daily training as well as have a place where participants can be motivated and accountable. I posted a welcome message and introduction videos explaining each of the featured movements. Each evening I post a fun graphic of the next mornings workout and then through the day I will post motivational images and I ask my participants to rate the difficulty of the workout on a 1-10 scale. The reason for the rating is so that I can track the progression of the difficulty of the challenge. My participants have all taken before photos and at the end of the challenge, they will take photos again, to enable them to see their results. I am participating in this challenge in order to be my own 'guinea pig' and be able to assess the effectiveness of the training first hand. The participants are made up of 9 other females and 2 males.

Now, if you’re wondering what the point of this is, I’m about to explain. This is an assignment to myself as part of my self studying. This is a test to see how I work as a leader and motivator in sport and fitness and to see how others respond to me. I am building my experience before I begin formal studies because I WANT to, because it feels GOOD to and because it’s my PASSION.

I implore you all to stick to your passions and challenge yourselves and others on the daily. Challenge the body as well as the mind. I have my mum to thank for getting me out my shell and open to this idea. She challenged me so that I could challenge 11 others.

Stay Strong and stay healthy! Thank you for reading.

xx
